Take appropriate action. If you think a child is in immediate danger call the police on 999 or call your local social services child protection team.

There are simple steps you can take to protect a child. If you have doubts about a person spending time with children don't allow them to be alone with them; don't force children to kiss or hug people they don't want to - there may be a good reason for their reluctance; if a child doesn't want to spend time with a particular person ask why; tell children it is OK to say no or to ask for help if someone hurts them or makes them feel scared.
Forming open, honest and caring relationshuips with children is the best way to protect them. If they know they can come to you if they have a problem there is a greater chance they will be able to tell you their fears.
